Honda presented their new 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, among the other models. It brings some novelties in design, as well as better fuel economy.
Before I say anything about the sedan’s engine and performance, I will say something about its exterior and interior design.
New Honda Civic Hybrid Design
Take a look at the photo above. As you can notice, on the front there is a new chrome grille with blue accents, all-new halogen headlights with blue lights (auto on/off), and what I like the most, blue fog lights in the shape of a triangle.
The 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid has a slightly arched roof that slopes down to the small trunk that can be remotely opened. There is a rear deck lid spoiler on the trunk. Below it, on the right side, there is a Hybrid emblem. Also worth mentioning are the new taillights and unique five-spoke alloy wheels.
What distinguishes this model from the others is the addition of two cameras in the side mirrors. These cameras are connected to a LaneWatch system and help you that you do not miss a single vehicle that comes to you from the side and wants to overtake. Of course, they serve as a parking aid as well.
Interior and Equipment
The interior of the 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid is quite improved. It feels as if you are in the cockpit of an aircraft or some spaceship. Just look at the photo below and you’ll see what I mean.
The first thing that catches the eye is the 7-inch touchscreen display on the center of the dashboard. It supports the HondaLink software that comes with many apps, such as weather and location info, GPS navigation for the Navi trim level, LaneWatch system, SMS text messaging support, BlueTooth Connectivity, and other services.
You can also activate the audio system that comes with six 160-watt speakers and supports both AM and FM radio. You can play your favorite CD-s as well.
The cabin is spacious and has plenty of room for five adults. The driver’s seat has the ability to manually adjust the height and backrest. Also adjustable are the front seat-belt anchors and head restraints.
Other features worth mentioning are climate control, push-to-start button next to the steering wheel, i-MID with 5-inch LCD display, sliding armrest, center console with addition of beverage holders and storage compartment, expanded rearview mirror, etc.
I have already mentioned the 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid Navi model which differs from the standard CVT models in that it has navigation. All other equipment is common to all trims. And for extra cash, you can choose leather materials for seats and other interior pieces.
Engine and Performance
The 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can develop 110 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque in combination with en electric motor. It is positioned between the gasoline engine and gearbox (Integrated Motor Assist system).
Speaking of the gearbox, the powertrain is mated to an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT) that maximizes the fuel economy of this vehicle.
This sedan is EPA rated at 44 mpg city, 47 mpg highway, and 45 mpg combined, which is an improvement over the last year’s model.
2014 Honda Civic Hybrid Price
This hybrid model will come in two different trim levels. Customers interested in purchasing the 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid CVT should prepare $24,635, and if you choose a model with leather materials you will have to set aside $25,835 bucks.
The starting price of the Navi CVT sedan that comes with GPS navigation is about $26,135, while the model with leather materials for the interior is priced at $27,335.
There are not many pictures of the 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid. This is all I could find, but be sure to take a look at the photos below to see what you can expect from this vehicle.
